‘I went to Apeejay as an introvert and came out as a confident leader’

In this engaging interview, Abhishek Chauhan, a Sales and Marketing Manager at Cloud Connect Communication and an alumnus of Apeejay School of Management (ASM), shares how ASM prepared him for a dynamic career in business. From intensive mock interviews to an active involvement in sports and presentations, he reflects on his transformation from an introvert to a confident professional, inspired by his natural affinity for commerce. Abhishek also talks about the future of AI in business, his role in sales, and his ultimate ambition: to become a CEO.
Were you campus placed?
Yes, I was. The professors at ASM took us through mock interviews after mock interviews, really grilling us! I had a mindset to improve with each one, which paid off. There were multiple opportunities, and I aimed to up my performance with each try.
What does your role at work involve?
My core focus is handling the sales pitch, managing the commercial side, and closing deals. I give product demos, work on leads, and am involved in both sales and pre-sales. It’s a fast-paced environment where you have to stay sharp.
What inspired you to choose this field?
It really suits my personality. I’ve always had a commerce-oriented mindset and a natural pull towards business. I’d say there were some influences around me growing up that guided me in this direction.
How were your days at ASM?
Great! ASM helped me build my skills and confidence. I learned to present myself effectively and give presentations as a leader. I came to ASM as an introvert but left with a much more extroverted approach. I was also active in sports—volleyball, badminton, and table tennis, and I played as a central player on the volleyball team.
Any advice for students?
Get familiar with AI tools and features—it’s definitely the future. It’s crucial to stay updated with industry trends.
What are your future career aims?
I aspire to reach higher roles in the corporate sector, with the ultimate goal of becoming a CEO of a leading firm.
