‘I was amazed to be part of such a great college’

Alumnus of Apeejay Institute of Management & Engineering Technical Campus (AIMETC), Jalandhar Anuj Thapa is rightly exploring his twenties. Working away from home in the beautiful Kangra district in Himachal Pradesh, he is the Senior Officer at ACC Limited, a part of Adani Group. Speaking about life in a short informal conversation, the Apeejay alumnus tells us about his 5 year plan, life at Apeejay and the weather at Himachal. Read edited excerpts:

Tell us about your work profile?

I am handling the district of Kangra in Himachal Pradesh.  I have been given a directory of dealer and retailer networks. It has around 40 dealer and 60 retailers and I manage them. The net worth of the market I handle is roughly 70 crores. So, it is quite a job of responsibility and commitment.

Indeed it is! But we are wondering whether the Jalandhar boy is liking life in HP?

Well, life is nice here at Himachal. The food is good, so are the people and the weather is simply great. But of course, I miss Jalandhar and home, nothing comes closer to that.

And, do you remember your first day at AIMETC, Jalandhar?

Yes! It was very good. We all i.e. the new students were quite nervous and excited at the same time. I pursued my MBA in advertising from Apeejay and was amazed and happy to be a part of such a great college.

 Were the teachers supportive?

They were just too good. Rajan ma’am and Ajwinder sir were super supportive, they shaped me as my mentors. They also guided me well for the college placement.  I secured a placement in Asian Paints.

And how was life at the campus?

I was the placement coordinator and would often guide juniors regarding interviews and group discussion. Then I was chosen as Mr Pinnacle in the college fest named Pinnacle, I was also the sportsperson of the year and the best anchor.

So what’s the plan for the next 5 years?

I aim to become the Associate Manager in this group. I am working hard with a focused mind and am happy at the moment.
