Primary level kids at school are always inquisitive and enthusiastic about everything. Since their foundation is so delicate, the teachers at school should go an extra mile to build a strong base for them believes Purnima Vaid Arora, whose daughter, Chaarvi, studies at Apeejay International School, Greater Noida.

Vaid says that the thematic learning approach at school is distinguished and extremely helpful for her daughter to grasp knowledge easily.

 Excerpts from the interview.

Why did you select Apeejay for your child?

When we were looking for the right school for our child for the admission in nursery standard we did our share of good research and figured out that Apeejay holds a legacy of prominent education in different cities. Since we have always heard good things about the Apeejay Education, we decided that this will be the right school for my child.

What kind of positive changes are there in your daughter?

There is a sizable growth in my child’s personality. I have seen the school take initiative in thematic learning and they organise lots of activities like festival celebrations, inter-school competition, and inter-house competition to name a few. All these give considerable exposure to the child. Such activities also give confidence to my child and present oneself in the public with conviction. I have seen my daughter has become more vocal in terms of sharing her view point. From an academic point of view, we have received positive feedback from the teachers. She has developed her writing skills and can read and understand as per her capabilities.

Are the teachers approachable?

All the teachers are easily approachable since they are always available on call. Moreover, we keep getting updates about our daughter’s performance on the WhatsApp group. The group helps us to keep a check on daily and weekly planners, along with other initiatives and information the teachers would like to share. Finally, there are the monthly meetings – the PTM which also helps us a lot to understand how our child is doing and the progress she has made from the teachers point of view. In case if we also have anything to share with the teachers like any feedback or concern, they are always open to listen to that.

Does your daughter share her school routine?

Everyday! My daughter has so much to share daily. She talks about what teachers have taught her the whole day and the kind of activities she participated in. Teachers specially organise activities like going to the park and teaching them something about nature, special focus is there on keeping kids involved in outdoor activities more. We particularly liked the idea of taking the kids to neighbourhood places like the temples, Gurudwara or even to the police station so that they become more aware and acquainted with their surroundings.

How much do you believe in the adage – a school is the second home for the child?

My daughter is practically experiencing the same. She spends almost four to five hours in school and whatever she has learnt in the school environment is how she will display the same in her personality and growth. This is the reason we chose Apeejay as all the teachers are very friendly and very cooperative with the parents as well.
