Shubham Singh is an Apeejay School of Management alumnus. He pursued his Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing and is a proud member of the batch of 2021. In a brief interview, the current Accounts Manager at ICICI Bank reveals how Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan inspired him to join the world of finances. Edited excerpts:

What all work does an accounts manager have to do in a day?
Our work is to call corporate companies and also target the banking people. We try to bring them on board. Basically, we provide them financial landings that they can use in their day to day business, then the cash credit limits, overdraft limits as well as the import and export. We cover the corporate industry as a whole. Thus, we have a very strong client base.
What inspired you to join this field?
Mr. Shah Rukh Khan! Yes, he is my idol and I saw his ads and endorsements for ICICI Bank. So, I always wanted to join this Bank .
Your best memories from ASM days?
So many memories. We used to hang out in the amphitheater on campus. We used to hangout in the canteen, then play volleyball and badminton. I hosted a lot of competitions and events in the auditorium, from Teacher’s day to Founders day, freshers party and farewell. I used to sit on the laptop and play all the music. I was the go to person for that.

A piece of advice for current management students
Be practical in life. You can’t say things in air. From my experience of being in sales for 1.5 years, I see that it’s not at all a cakewalk. It is very difficult to sell anything. One has to understand the concept of what we are selling to our customers. We must know all about it.
Your future targets?
I want to learn more about banking and grow more in my career and also learn more about my life. I am excited to see how things will turn out in the future.
