At Apeejay School of Management, growth is not just about academics, it’s about discovering confidence, leadership, and real-world readiness. For Swati Mishra (Batch 2024–26), now placed at JK Papers as an Officer Trainee, the journey has been deeply transformative—personally and professionally.
Read edited excerpts:
How did your journey at ASM shape your personality?
Honestly, I was someone who had a strong fear of public speaking. I had never gone on stage or delivered speeches. But ASM completely changed that. Faculty members constantly encouraged me, telling me they believed in me. That push made a huge difference.
I ended up anchoring my seniors’ farewell, which was something I never imagined doing. I also served as Vice President of the Analytics Club, which helped me build leadership and communication skills. Over time, my stage fear almost disappeared, and that transformation is something I’ll always be grateful for.
What technical skills did you gain during your course?
Since I specialised in Finance and Business Analytics, my technical exposure improved significantly. Earlier, I had no understanding of the stock market, but through coursework, I learned about shares and financial systems. On the analytics side, I gained hands-on experience in SQL, Python, and Power BI. My Excel skills also improved a lot, which is extremely important in today’s work environment. These are practical skills that I now use confidently.
Which academic or classroom experiences helped you the most?
I genuinely feel that regular classroom teaching was the most impactful. The faculty’s approach to explaining concepts made learning very effective and practical. Additionally, soft skills classes stood out. Initially, we didn’t take them seriously, but over time, group discussions helped us become fluent in English and more confident in formal settings. Mock interviews conducted by faculty also helped me identify my weaknesses and improve before actual placements.
Can you share your internship experience and its impact?
I chose to pursue an internship aligned with my interests rather than settling for a marketing role. I worked with a CA firm, Nishant Vikram & Company, as an Accounting and Compliance Intern.
There, I gained exposure to income tax portals, GST systems, and Tally software. Learning Tally was especially helpful because now, at my job, we use SAP, and the basic understanding of such systems made my transition smoother.
What academic projects or research work enhanced your learning?
Under faculty guidance, I worked on research papers related to behavioural finance, sustainable finance, and green finance. These topics gave me a deeper understanding of how finance connects with real-world challenges and evolving global trends.
