For many management students, placements are the first big step into the corporate world. For Bhavishya, a student of Apeejay School of Management pursuing PGDM in Marketing and Finance, this journey has led to a promising role at ICICI Bank. In this conversation, he shares how preparation, practical exposure, and institutional support shaped his success.

Read edited excerpts:

Can you tell us about your academic background and specialisation?
I am currently pursuing PGDM in Marketing and Finance. My focus has been on understanding both customer behaviour and financial systems, which helped me during the placement process.

How did you secure your placement with ICICI Bank?
The opportunity came through the college placement process. We were informed about a pre-placement drive by ICICI Bank, and I applied through the institute. There was an assessment followed by an interview round. After clearing both, I was selected.

What will your role as a Relationship Manager involve?
My primary responsibility is to cross-sell the bank’s products and maintain strong relationships with customers. The role is also about building trust and ensuring that customers stay connected with the bank.

Which subjects or concepts helped you the most during the selection process?
Marketing played a major role. Since the job profile was aligned with sales and customer interaction, my understanding of marketing concepts really helped me perform well in the interview.

How did the institute support you during placements?
The placement committee was very supportive. They conducted mock interviews and organised preparation sessions. These helped me gain confidence and understand what recruiters expect.

Did your internship experience contribute to your success?
Yes, definitely. I completed my summer internship at ITC Limited, where I worked in sales and marketing. Interestingly, the role was quite similar to what I will be doing now, which gave me practical exposure and an advantage during the interview.

What excites you most about this role?
I enjoy interacting with people and building connections. This role suits my talkative nature and gives me the opportunity to engage with different individuals every day.
