We often misunderstand and choose a school for our children because of its reputation. Rather, it is important to choose a school that aligns with your child’s unique needs and educational expectations. After carefully considering various factors, this mother chose Apeejay Svran Global School, Faridabad, Sector 21-D for her child.
Meet Payal Arora, the mother of Jagriti Arora, studying in class XI, at this school. In an impromptu interview, the mother mentions how this school has been fostering positive and enriching learning experiences for her child.
How has been Jagriti’s experience so far?
The experience of her school journey has been exceptionally great ever since the nursery. She is very comfortable with the environment of the school. The teachers are very supportive. A notable instance was during her class X when she underwent an operation; the teachers and staff provided exceptional support during that period.
Does the school keep you well-informed about the upcoming events?
The school ensures to keep the parents very well informed. They are very particular and punctual about these things. They circulate messages on WhatsApp groups about all kinds of information.
Some parents pressurise their children. What’s your take?
It is not the right approach. It is important to give your child the space they require to understand things. Even though Jagriti is an average student, I avoid putting any sort of pressure on her. My husband and I foster open communication with her and encourage her to make her decision. For instance, I initially suggested she take the Humanities stream, but she chose Commerce. We fully supported her decision, respecting her choices in her academic journey.
What do you appreciate the most about the school?
Their teaching methodology and approach. Teachers make sure to teach in a way that students feel more motivated. At the time of COVID-19, the school handled the education and online classes extremely well as compared to any other institution.
How do you deal with her upcoming Board phobia?
Jagriti has a calm and extremely relaxed demeanor. Whenever she faces challenges with her studies, my approach is to sit with her, provide comfort, and encourage a positive mindset. I often suggest she take small breaks while studying and ensure her that setbacks are not the end of the world. Keep your mind positive and work hard, do not give up.
How do you tell your daughter to use gadgets judiciously?
We are lucky in this sense; she seldom uses a smartphone while studying. I encourage her to use YouTube as a supplementary resource if necessary. At the end of the day, after 10:30 pm, I strictly enforce a no-phone, no-laptop rule. While it can be challenging to manage, I ask her to give the phone to me during those hours to ensure focused and uninterrupted study time.
What’s your parenting mantra?
I want her to achieve whatever she wants. I never try to levy external pressure on her. I move forward with one notion — keep working hard, whatever the result may be.
