‘I am sad and horrified about this attack that had left families helpless’

A very unfortunate incident that took place last month – 26 lives were lost, 26 families were dismantled and countless hearts were etched with fear for as long as they shall beat. Much has already been said about the terrorist attack in Pahalgam that targeted unarmed innocent tourists.

Tourists were asked to recite Kalima and their ability or inability to recite it decided the course of their life. I am extremely sad and horrified to know about such an attack that had left so many families helpless.
I am exasperated and filled with anguish, but the Indian inside me grieves at the aftermath that has unravelled after the attack. We are losing sight of who the enemy really is. Instead of grieving for the loss of our fellow brothers, we are being pitted against each other.
It’s high time we show solidarity as a nation that is much larger than the communities that reside in it, the faiths that its people follow and the divisive narrative that has been fed to us for so long!
This is not Hindu vs. Muslim. This is India vs. Terrorism
