On the occasion of World Environment DayIsba Naaz, a bright Class IX-A student from Apeejay School, Saket and Director of the school’s Interact Club, emerged as the Delhi Winner in the Environment Quiz organised by the 3R Zerowaste Environment Foundation India. The quiz, held across various cities and countries, aimed to raise awareness on pressing environmental issues through thought-provoking questions. Isba’s dedication to sustainability and community initiatives not only earned her this prestigious recognition but also reflected the school’s emphasis on nurturing socially responsible leaders.

Congratulations, Isba! Tell us how you came to participate in the quiz.

Thank you! We received the quiz link on the morning of June 4 during our summer break. Our teachers shared all the instructions clearly, and as part of our Interact Club, our mentor encouraged us to take it. Since I’m the Director of the club, I felt even more responsible to participate actively.

What was the format of the quiz like?

It was a Google Form-based quiz with mostly multiple-choice questions and two open-ended ones. One of them asked us to write a slogan on the environment, and the other sought our opinion on ocean pollution. I really liked the open-ended questions because they gave me space to express my thoughts.

What were your key learnings from the quiz?

I learned about the seven types of plastic – something I didn’t know before. The quiz helped me understand the importance of waste segregation and the dangers of plastic pollution. It made me realise that the environmental crisis is not just local but global.

How does it feel to represent Delhi and your school at such a level?

It feels amazing! I’m proud to represent Apeejay School, Saket. The school has always supported student-led initiatives like the Interact Club and given me many leadership opportunities.

What message would you like to give to other students?

Every small step matters. Avoid plastics, segregate your waste, and raise awareness in your community. You don’t have to be in a leadership position to make a difference – just take initiative!
