How has your experience as an alumnus of AIT-SAP influenced your career as a senior architect?

Attending AIT-SAP was a transformative experience that laid the foundation for my education and introduced me to a wide range of architectural concepts, fostering a comprehensive grasp of the field. Interacting with industry professionals and capitalising on networking opportunities at Apeejay enabled me to forge valuable connections that still contribute to my career today. The programme’s demanding curriculum and emphasis on research honed my attention to detail and fueled my curiosity to explore inventive design solutions. AIT-SAP’s unwavering commitment to sustainable practices and contextual design profoundly impacted my approach, instilling in me a deep dedication to prioritise environmental responsibility and cultural sensitivity in my projects.

Could you share some key lessons or skills that you acquired during your time at Apeejay that have been instrumental in your architectural practice?

AIT-SAP taught me the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration, enabling me to work seamlessly with professionals from various fields on complex projects. The emphasis placed on critical thinking and problem-solving sharpened my analytical skills, empowering me to tackle design challenges with efficiency and precision. AIT-SAP nurtured a deep appreciation for the human experience within architecture, prompting me to prioritise user-centric design and create spaces that truly resonate with people.

As a senior architect, what specific contributions you believe you can make to a project?

As a senior architect, I provide strategic guidance and leadership throughout the project while ensuring alignment with the client’s vision, objectives, and budget. Drawing from my experience, I offer expertise in complex design aspects, sustainable practices, and regulatory compliance. I foster effective collaboration among team members, facilitating the exchange of ideas and nurturing an environment of innovation and excellence. I actively engage with stakeholders, ensuring their needs are understood and integrated into the design process, resulting in successful project outcomes.

Can you describe a project or design you worked on that showcases your architectural expertise?

Certainly! One project that showcases my architectural expertise is the Blue Sapphire Plaza in Greater Noida. It is a testament to innovative mixed land-use design. Spanning over a plot area of 25,661 sq/m, this exceptional development boasts an impressive built-up area of approximately 20 lac sq/ft.

One of the key highlights of Blue Sapphire Plaza is the design of a 10-screen multiplex, offering a delightful cinematic experience for visitors. Complementing the multiplex is a high street plaza with over 1,500 shops that creates a vibrant and dynamic atmosphere while catering to diverse retail needs. The design concept draws inspiration from the brilliance of a sapphire stone, incorporating sharp edges in the facade and planning, reflecting its intense and captivating nature.

The architectural vision for Blue Sapphire Plaza further unfolds with two distinctive towers, each with its own identity. The first tower comprises a 3-star hotel with service apartments, offering a comfortable and luxurious stay experience for guests. The design proposal ensures that the hotel encompasses all necessary amenities, catering to the requirements of its esteemed guests. Additionally, a separately designed multi-level car parking facility with a capacity of 350+ vehicles, equipped with chauffeur services, provides hassle-free entry and exit for hotel and banquet visitors.

The second tower caters to the needs of modern businesses, featuring over 500+ office units across 21 storeys, with a height of 95m. The offices offer breathtaking views of Greater Noida West and are facilitated by six separate lift facilities connecting to the basement parking area. To accommodate parking requirements, a combination of stacker and conventional parking systems has been meticulously planned for the office spaces.

Blue Sapphire Plaza goes beyond commercial spaces, incorporating various amenities and facilities to enhance the overall experience. Hyper stores, anchor outlets, medical points, F&B areas, a food court, an entertainment zone, institutional spaces, and kiosks are thoughtfully integrated, creating a comprehensive and diverse environment. The project’s landscape design adds to its charm, while well-planned lighting enhances the ambiance, ensuring a visually striking and inviting atmosphere.

Through the Blue Sapphire Plaza project, I have showcased my architectural expertise in creating a design that seamlessly blends functionality, aesthetics, and sustainable principles. The project’s unique features, innovative design elements, and meticulous attention to detail make it a true testament to my skill and vision as a senior architect at Modarchindia.

When approaching architectural design and problem-solving, I follow a systematic methodology and decision-making process. I begin by developing concepts based on thorough research and understanding of the project requirements. Collaboration and iteration play a vital role, as I engage with stakeholders to gather input and refine the design. Sustainability and human-centric design principles guide my decision-making, incorporating energy efficiency, natural lighting, and user comfort. Technical expertise and attention to detail ensure the execution of the design. Effective presentation and communication skills help convey ideas to clients and other stakeholders. Problem-solving and adaptation are key components, allowing me to address challenges and adjust designs as needed. Lastly, quality control and project management ensure the successful implementation of the design, adhering to timelines and budgets.
