Mother’s Day is a heartfelt occasion to honour and appreciate mothers for their unconditional love, sacrifices, and guidance. Celebrating this special day in Indian schools further instils gratitude and respect in children, strengthens family bonds, encourages emotional expression, and nurtures values like love, care, and appreciation from a young age.
Keeping this in focus, Apeejay Svran Global School, Faridabad, Sector 21-D, celebrated Mother’s Day. The day began with the traditional tilak to all the mothers and a badge pinned that read: Proud to be a Mom. As Rudyard Kipling once said, “God could not be everywhere, so He made mothers.”
A mother is the purest form of love, the sunshine of our lives, and life’s greatest teacher. She symbolises compassion, courage, and creation, and she continues to believe in us even when we struggle to believe in ourselves. We may give her whatever name — amma or ma, or mom — the word ‘mother’ remains the most beautiful because life does not come with a manual — it comes with a mother.
The Special Guests for the day were Ms Meeta Rampal, Ms Janvi Madan, and Ms Aradhika. The school Principal, Ms Purnima Vohra, took the podium to welcome the mothers and the guests. “All that I am, or ever hope to be, I owe to my mother. This beautiful quote is a heartfelt tribute to all mothers. Before I formally welcome everyone, I would like to begin with a small prayer for all the mothers and also for the brave men and women of our Armed Forces who are deployed at the borders,” Ms Vohra said.
We thank you for the gift of mothers — those who have nurtured our students, guided them and loved them unconditionally. Bless all mothers with strength, patience, and wisdom as they care for their families. May they feel the love and grace in every moment.
Help us to honour and appreciate our mothers, not just today, but every day. Almighty God, we lift up our brave men and women serving in the armed forces. Thank you for their courage and dedication in protecting our nation. Grant them strength, wisdom, and safety in their duties. Be with their families, providing comfort and peace during these challenging times. May our country remain a place of freedom and justice, safeguarded by their service.

The Principal, extending a warm welcome, said, “Welcome to all the wonderful mothers present with us; your presence fills our hearts with joy. We are honoured to welcome our esteemed guests. Mother’s Day celebrates the strength, love, and selfless spirit of mothers. Words can never fully express our gratitude for the unconditional love and guidance you provide. We come together to honour you for raising such amazing children and shaping their futures. You are the guiding light, the strength at home, and the reason behind your child’s confidence. We deeply appreciate your presence and support. Thank you for sharing this proud occasion with us.”
The programme began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp to mark the beginning of an auspicious event by invoking positivity and clarity amid the singing of the Saraswati Vandana by the school music teacher, Mr Ankit Pandey.
The celebration continued with heartfelt performances by the students, dedicated to their beloved mothers. The event began with an adorable presentation by the Senior KG students, who charmed the audience with their innocence, cuteness, and love. Their act was a touching tribute to the mothers, filled with warmth and affection.
Following this, the stage lit up with a vibrant dance performance by students of Classes V to VIII. The students, dressed in graceful white outfits with green and pink dupattas, mesmerised everyone with their elegant moves. The finale was a soulful musical rendition, featuring emotional songs like Taare Zameen Par, moving many mothers to joyful tears.

It was then time to raise the energy with a series of engaging workshops specially curated for the mothers. The first was an energetic dance session led by Ms Madan, who taught lively steps to the classic song Jhumka gira re. The mothers participated enthusiastically, enjoying every moment as they grooved to the rhythm with high-energy twirls, sways, and vibrant flair.
The spotlight shifted to creativity as Ms Rampal introduced the mothers to the delightful craft of decoupage art. This technique involves decorating objects by glueing cut-out paper designs onto them, then sealing them with layers of varnish or lacquer for a painted-on finish. Often used to beautify boxes, furniture, and home décor, the activity inspired artistic expression and allowed the mothers to showcase their imagination and flair.
The mothers then unleashed their cooking skills. They were to make a dish, non-flammable, using Cornitos. This activity was led by Ms Aradhika. The mothers were given packets of Cornitos; from this, they had to create a unique dish. The mothers were given 10 minutes to create their dish. This session was filled with fun as they used the ingredients to make some unique dishes that they had to present uniquely. Each participant was given a hamper. And there were special prizes for the first, second and third place.

Speaking about the celebrations, a mother, Dr Meena Pandit, said, “The celebration was wonderful, as always. I’ve participated many times, and each time has been memorable. I thoroughly enjoyed the non-stop cooking and painting activities. As mothers, nurturing and guiding are our joy.”
Another mother, Ms Rupika, shared, “I’ve been attending for six to seven years. I enjoyed the colouring, dancing, and especially trying something new like cooking.”
Ms Manisha Rana, sharing her experience, said, “I’ve been associated with the school for nearly five years. The celebrations were truly special; not just because it’s Mother’s Day, but because it celebrates love, bonding, and values that strengthen families and children alike.”
The celebrations culminated in a heartfelt vote of thanks and a heartfelt message by Advika Anil Thomas and Shikha Sharma. “Today, we want to thank our mothers from the bottom of our hearts. Your unconditional love, silent sacrifices, comforting hugs, and uplifting words mean everything to us. You are our strength, our heroes, and the heartbeat of our families. Thank you for being our guiding light — today and always.”

The celebration at Apeejay Svran Global School beautifully honoured motherhood, blending heartfelt tributes, joyful activities, and shared memories.
