Apeejay Institute of Management & Engineering Technical Campus (AIMETC), Jalandhar, celebrated National Mathematics Day with great enthusiasm through an engaging and knowledge-enriching academic programme dedicated to the life and legacy of the legendary Indian mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan. The event aimed to inspire students to appreciate the relevance of mathematics in academics and everyday life while drawing motivation from the extraordinary journey of one of India’s greatest intellectual minds.

The programme began with a detailed presentation on the biography of Srinivasa Ramanujan, delivered by Kiran and Ananya, students of BTech Computer Science Engineering, first semester. Through an informative PowerPoint presentation titled “Srinivasa Ramanujan: The Mathematician & His Legacy”, the presenters highlighted Ramanujan’s humble beginnings, self-taught learning process, and exceptional contributions to the field of mathematics. The session shed light on his groundbreaking work in number theory, infinite series, mathematical analysis, and continued fractions, leaving students inspired by his passion and perseverance.

The presentation effectively showcased how Ramanujan, despite having minimal formal training in pure mathematics, went on to solve complex problems that were once considered unsolvable. His life story served as a powerful reminder of how curiosity, dedication, and resilience can overcome limitations and lead to extraordinary achievements.

Dr. Rajesh Bagga, Director, AIMETC, addressed the gathering and motivated students to draw inspiration from the life of Srinivasa Ramanujan and other such eminent personalities. He emphasised that innovation and excellence are not confined to formal education alone but are driven by determination and an inquisitive mindset. He further highlighted Ramanujan’s ability to produce path-breaking theorems that continue to influence modern mathematical research. His address left a lasting impact on students, encouraging them to explore knowledge beyond textbooks.

Adding further value to the celebration, Dr. Sheenu Nayyar delivered a special lecture on Vedic Mathematics. During the session, she introduced students to effective tips and techniques that enable faster and more accurate mathematical calculations. She also explained the significance of the famous Hardy–Ramanujan Number 1729, helping students understand its historical importance and the remarkable story behind it.

The event concluded with a Mathematics Quiz, in which students enthusiastically participated and showcased their mathematical skills and analytical thinking. The interactive activities kept students engaged and reinforced the joy of learning mathematics.

Overall, the celebration of National Mathematics Day at AIMET Technical Campus was a resounding success, fostering academic curiosity and inspiring students to follow the path of excellence set by Srinivasa Ramanujan.
