Apeejay School of Management (ASM) in Dwarka came alive with the vibrant celebration of Lohri, a traditional festival that marks the harvest season and the triumph of light over darkness, organised by the Cultural Club of ASM. The event was a beautiful display of cultural spirit, unity, and joy, bringing together faculty, staff, and students in a lively and festive atmosphere.

The celebration began with a traditional Lohri bonfire, around which everyone gathered to enjoy the warmth of the fire, symbolic of the harvest season. The air was filled with the rhythmic beats of the dhol, the iconic drum that is integral to the celebrations of Lohri, creating a festive ambiance that got everyone in high spirits. The aroma of traditional Lohri sweets and snacks filled the air, offering a delightful treat to all participants.

Delicacies such as tilgur (sesame seeds and jaggery), gajak, and revri were served, which are commonly enjoyed during this festival. These treats not only satiated the hunger but also added a festive flavour to the celebration, reminding everyone of the cultural significance of the festival. The enjoyment was not limited to the food and music but extended to the joy of togetherness as faculty, staff, and students shared laughs and experiences.

Dr. Rahul Singh, Director of Apeejay School of Management, addressed the gathering, offering insightful words about the significance of Lohri. He said, “Festivals hold a lot of importance in our lives,” while emphasising how it represents the spirit of community, new beginnings, and gratitude. Dr. Singh highlighted how the festival is a celebration of nature & abundance and a reminder of the vital connection between humans and the earth. He further encouraged the students to reflect on the values of unity, joy, and perseverance, which are symbolic of the festival’s essence.

As the festival unfolded, the students expressed their happiness and gratitude for being part of such a meaningful celebration. “It feels amazing to see everyone come together as one community. The dhol beats, the food, and the energy of this event made me feel rejuvenated,” said Sujata, a second-year student at ASM.

Another student, Shweta, shared her excitement saying, “Lohri is a festival that celebrates positivity and new beginnings, and today’s celebration truly embodied those values. The whole experience has filled me with joy and warmth.”

The event ended on a high note with the students dancing around the bonfire to the beats of the dhol, marking the joy and happiness that the festival of Lohri brings. The sense of community and shared celebration was evident throughout the event, with the faculty, staff, and students enjoying the moment to the fullest. In conclusion, the Lohri celebration at Apeejay School of Management, Dwarka, was a wonderful occasion that brought everyone together in celebration of tradition, culture, and community. It provided a perfect opportunity for students and faculty to bond outside the classroom and experience the richness of Indian festivals, all while reflecting on the deeper meanings of Lohri—new beginnings, unity, and the warmth of togetherness.
