The birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Devji, the revered founder of Sikhism, was celebrated with devotion and enthusiasm at Apeejay Svran Global School, Faridabad, on November 13, 2024. The occasion brought together students, staff, and parents in a spirit of unity, peace, and reverence.
The celebrations began with a traditional Prabhat Pheri, a spiritual procession led by students dressed in vibrant traditional attire. Divided into groups, the participants carried banners displaying messages of peace, love, and unity, embodying the timeless teachings of Guru Nanakji. Their soulful recitation of shabads set the tone for a serene and reflective morning.
According to Ms Rohini, an English teacher, let no man in the world live in delusion; without a Guru, none can cross over to the other shore – Nanak Naam Jahaaz hai, Jo Chadhe So utare paar. “The Gurupurab, the sacred occasion marking the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Devji, was celebrated with great devotion and enthusiasm at Apeejay Svran Global School. The celebration aimed to honour the teachings of Guru Nanakji, emphasising values of peace, unity, equality, and selfless service to humanity,” the educator shared.
“The students explained the significance of this day and urged the audience to follow the teachings of Guru Nanakji in their lives. Guru Nanak emphasised the concept of one universal God, teaching students the importance of seeing unity in diversity. This fosters a sense of equality, tolerance, and respect for others, irrespective of background, belief, or social status,” Ms Rohini said.

Hymns and Lessons
The cultural programme was a beautiful amalgamation of devotion and learning. Students performed traditional kirtans (hymns), filling the air with a divine aura. These melodious renditions evoked a deep sense of spirituality among the audience.
A highlight of the celebration was the distribution of prasad, a traditional offering symbolising equality, selflessness, and community service. The gesture reinforced the essence of Guru Nanakji’s teachings, reminding everyone of the importance of shared values and communal harmony.
The event was a reflection of the school’s commitment to instilling spiritual and cultural values in students. By participating in such programmes, students learnt the importance of living a life rooted in compassion, service, and integrity.

The event was not just a commemoration but a platform for reinforcing values that transcend boundaries and connect individuals through shared humanity. Students expressed gratitude for the opportunity to engage with these values, making the celebration deeply personal and impactful for everyone present.
The Gurpurab celebration at Apeejay Svran Global School was not just an event; it was a spiritual journey. The event concluded on a high note, leaving a lasting impression of devotion and harmony in the hearts of all present.
