‘Gossip with the rain’: Poem by Ruhi Sengupta, Apeejay School, Kharghar

Little pattering drops of rain,
Coming straight from the clouds
Falling on my window-pane,
Just see the huge thunderclouds!
Keeping our natural-lungs fresh,
Keeping out the droughts
Keeping the stalks ready to thresh,
Keeping the lakes full of trouts!
Bright flowers blooming everywhere,
Playing their gentle melody
No shortage of water here nor there,
They do the best therapy!
Be the natural firefighters,
Save us from forest fires
Use the dew to be writers,
Falling continuously, doesn’t it tire?

Just some small wishes of mine,
Don’t take it to your heart
Please don’t cause floods, rest all is fine,
Don’t take my words too tart!
Come and go as you like.
But excess is bad
Sometimes stop and go for a hike,
If you do so, no one shall be sad!
So now, let me go to school,
And you keep pouring down
Certainly, you are quite cool,
But I can’t miss school!
So someday we might talk,
You about sky, I about land
We might have a little walk,
With the raindrops’ musical band!
