Germany has the highest number of Indian students, says Ambassador to India
Indian students have also made a significant mark academically, a sentiment shared by German professors
On Thursday, August 10, 2023 German Ambassador to India, Philipp Ackermann, announced that Germany has attracted the highest number of foreign students from India, with the count surpassing 42,000 students.
Notably, within the span of a year, there has been a remarkable 25 per cent increase in the presence of Indian students in Germany, propelling India to the top spot as the largest group of foreign students in the country.
Ackermann shared his enthusiasm, stating, “It’s truly remarkable! The number of Indian students in Germany has exceeded 42,000, marking a 25 per cent surge within just one year. India now proudly holds the position of being the leading contingent of foreign students in Germany, a feat achieved much quicker than anticipated. The popularity of Germany among Indian students is evident, and conversely, Indian students have also made a significant mark within the academic landscape of Germany, a sentiment often echoed by professors.” This update was posted by him on X (formerly known as Twitter) account.
India and Germany signed an agreement last year on comprehensive migration and mobility partnership to facilitate the two-way movement of students, professionals and researchers.
