GATE 2026 admit card release delayed

The Indian Institute of Technology is expected to release the admit cards for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026 shortly. Once issued, registered candidates will be able to download their admit cards from the official GATE 2026 website using their login credentials.    

The admit cards were originally scheduled to be released on January 2, 2026. However, it has been postponed the release, announcing that a revised date will be shared soon. Confirming the development, an official notice on the GATE 2026 website stated, “The release date of the GATE 2026 admit card has been postponed. The revised release date will be announced soon. Paper schedule is released. Mock test links are live now.”

In the meantime, the mock test links for candidates to familiarise themselves with the Computer-Based Test (CBT) format. These mock tests aim to help aspirants understand the exam interface, question navigation, and overall structure, allowing them to prepare more effectively ahead of the examination.

GATE 2026 is scheduled to be conducted in February 2026. The exam will be held on February 7, 8, 14, and 15, 2026, on behalf of the National Coordination Board (NCB), Ministry of Education. 

The national-level exam will be conducted for 30 test papers, all in English. Each paper will carry a total of 100 marks, comprising a mandatory General Aptitude (GA) section of 15 marks and 85 marks dedicated to the subject-specific syllabus.

GATE assesses candidates’ understanding of undergraduate and postgraduate-level subjects across engineering, technology, science, architecture, humanities, commerce, and arts.
