Future leaders take oath at this school’s investiture ceremony

In a big spectacle of leadership and responsibility, Apeejay School, Tanda Road on July 27, 2024, held its much-awaited Investiture Ceremony — a Wilmington-based exercise within the school premises where students, faculty, and proud parents installed a new student council.

The inaugural ceremony began traditionally with the lighting of the lamp — an act symbolic of the removal of darkness by the light of knowledge and wisdom. A soulful invocation added to setting the atmosphere in a respectful and enterprising mode.

The reverberation of the school song in the hall created a surge of pride and oneness that flowed, an embracing tide, binding all present in one spirit. The programme then moved to the felicitation ceremony where honours were bestowed upon the Head Boy, Arnav Chopra, the Head Girl, Janvi Sharma and the Sports Captain, a proud moment for the fraternity of the school.

Voices of the Future

Both Arnav and Janvi went up to the stage and addressed the house with very inspiring speeches, expressing their feeling of gratitude towards the trust shown in them and further elaborating on some very ambitious visions for the upcoming academic year. Their words not only inspired their peers but also reassured the audience that they were committed and capable of steering their council to great heights effectively.

This was followed by the recognition of the House Prefectorial Board itself, with house captains, vice captains, and prefects from all four houses being celebrated with applause for their leadership roles.

A Pledge to Lead

One of the most memorable moments of the ceremony was when the oath was taken, which Principal Ms Sangeeta Nistandra administered to the student leaders. Their solemn vows so uttered were an expression of their readiness to uphold the values and responsibilities entrusted unto them with a conclave of integrity and dedication.

The Principal, Nistandra, in her address, talked of critical roles of leadership and responsibilities. She exhorted the newly elected leaders to have a positive impact by working collaboratively for the attainment of common goals in school. She added that the student council plays a significant role in framing a caring school environment.

Celebrating Academic Excellence

Apart from the leadership roles, there was also a special felicitation of the NOF Olympiad winners. This gesture helped to acknowledge the academic performances of the students and add more fanfare to the event.

Finally, the coordinator, Ms Deepti Kaushal, was called to propose a Vote of Thanks to all contributors for making this event a success. The function culminated with the playing of the National Anthem, filling the audience with the spirit of patriotism and union.

 The Investiture Ceremony at Apeejay School, Tanda Road, Jalandhar, was a far cry from any formality. It gave birth to a new chapter for student leaders, an amalgamation of joy, ambition, and promise.
