What are you doing professionally now?
Recently, I joined Schoolnet India Ltd. as a legal intern. This opportunity has allowed me to apply my legal knowledge in a professional setting, working on various projects that enhance my practical skills. Here, I am involved in drafting legal documents, conducting research, and assisting with compliance matters. This experience is proving to be invaluable in bridging the gap between academic learning and real-world legal practice.
What did your classes look like in college?
As a law student at Apeejay Stya University (ASU), my typical day was a blend of academic rigour and engaging experiences. Mornings were dedicated to attending lectures, where I immersed myself in learning about various legal principles and theories. These sessions were often followed by lively discussions with peers and debates on case studies. Afternoons were usually spent in the moot court, where I honed my advocacy skills. I would often spend time with friends and fellow law students, exchanging insights and supporting each other through the challenges of law school. Additionally, I regularly discussed complex topics with my lecturers, seeking their guidance on my legal writing and benefiting from their expertise. These interactions were invaluable, deepening my understanding and enhancing my academic performance.
Tell us about your time at ASU.
It was a transformative experience that shaped both my academic and personal life. As a law student, each day was filled with enriching activities and opportunities for growth. The day would typically begin with attending thought-provoking lectures where esteemed professors shared their expertise on various legal subjects. These classes were not just about absorbing information but also about engaging in critical discussions and debates that sharpened my analytical thinking.
Share a few nostalgic memories from ASU.
Reflecting on my time at ASU brings back a flood of nostalgic memories. I was fortunate to have several opportunities to represent ASU at various paper presentations across different universities. These experiences allowed me to showcase my research and engage with a broader academic community. One of the highlights of my academic journey was collaborating with my lecturer. Together, we authored a research paper that has been shortlisted for publication in a prestigious law journal (fingers crossed). This collaboration not only enriched my research skills but also provided me with invaluable mentorship and insight into the world of legal scholarship.
How was the faculty?
The teachers at ASU were incredibly supportive and helpful throughout my journey. They consistently provided valuable guidance, encouragement, and personalised feedback, ensuring that I maximise my potential and thrived academically. I still remember my first lecturer, she was a gem of the department, and the way she enlightened us with her extensive knowledge was incredibly impactful on our lives. I would also like to mention my mentor during my second to fourth year, whose vast knowledge and intellectual prowess made it an honour to be his student. Additionally, I cannot forget two of my recent lecturers, who were both exceptionally helpful and kind throughout my last semester. I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to learn from such esteemed personalities.
Any message for the students of the university?
To the students of ASU, embrace every moment of your time here, as it will shape not only your academic journey but also your personal growth. Dive into your studies with passion, participate actively in discussions, and never hesitate to seek guidance from your professors — they are incredible resources. Entering the field of law is no easy feat, but with the right guidance and unwavering support, you can overcome any challenge. Stay committed to your studies, seek mentorship from experienced professionals, and surround yourself with a supportive network. The journey may be demanding, but the rewards of a legal career are well worth the effort. Stay focused, be resilient, and never underestimate the power of perseverance and hard work.
