From seed to sprout, a joyful learning day

The hands-on activity for nursery students at Apeejay School, Saket, sows seeds of curiosity

A simple seed can teach a powerful lesson. Recently, the nursery students of Apeejay School, Saket, took part in a hands-on activity on germination. The classroom turned into a lively learning space, filled with soil, seeds, and curious little hands. Excitement was visible on every face as the children prepared to begin their planting journey.

The children planted their seeds in small pots. Each child carefully added soil, placed the seed, and watered it gently. Teachers guided them step by step. The focus was not only on planting but on understanding what happens beneath the soil. The young learners listened closely and followed instructions with care.

Students were introduced to the basic idea of germination. They learnt that seeds need water, air, and sunlight to grow. The explanation was simple and clear. At this age, learning happens best through doing. And this activity allowed them to see and feel the process for themselves. It also encouraged them to ask questions about how plants grow and why they are important.

Learning to care and observe

Through this experience, children will observe the growth process and learn how to care for plants in a joyful and practical way. They will look forward to noticing small changes as their seeds begin to grow. Such observation builds curiosity and sharpens attention to detail.

What this means is that learning continues beyond one lesson. The children are developing patience. They are building responsibility. They are also discovering how nature works in its own quiet way.

A step towards environmental awareness

By planting their own seeds, the young learners have taken their first step towards understanding the importance of plants in our lives. Small actions like these help build awareness early on.

At Apeejay School, Saket, even the youngest learners are encouraged to explore, question, and grow. Sometimes, all it takes is a seed to begin.
