Walk us through a regular day at work?
I am currently working as a public relations executive at Elite Marque. My daily tasks involve handling clients, monitoring media coverage for them, pitching to journalists, drafting content for promotions, and client servicing. It’s quite an interesting job!
What inspired you to join this field?
While studying English Honours at Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College, I realised I didn’t want to pursue a traditional literature path. The turning point for me was the Maggie scandal; I was fascinated by the behind-the-scenes management and PR work, and how they rechannelised people’s faith in the popular brand. This interest led me to pursue a career in public relations.
How were the days at AIMC?
My time at AIMC was incredibly enriching. From day one, we had a month-long orientation with guest lecturers and industry professionals. The projects and mock press conferences were practical experiences that brushed up our skills. The environment was friendly, with great friends and supportive teachers who taught us not just communication skills but life lessons as well.
Did the AIMC teachers prepare you well for campus placement?
Yes, AIMC prepared us well for campus placements. They had a rigorous process that included preparing our portfolios, resumes, and conducting mock interviews. This thorough preparation helped me excel in interviews and secure a good placement.
What is the next step in your career?
I aim to excel in PR and continue learning. My goal is to grow and advance in this field, gaining more knowledge and expertise. I see myself thriving and reaching new heights in my PR career.
