From lemons to life lessons

The cheerful corridors of Apeejay Rhythms Kinderworld, Model Town, Jalandhar, buzzed with excitement and entrepreneurial spirit as our kindergarteners stepped into the world of business during the much-awaited Lemonade Day. The event, filled with enthusiasm and hands-on learning, was designed to introduce the concept of basic entrepreneurship to our young learners playfully and engagingly.

Armed with lemons, sugar, mint, salt, and a lot of enthusiasm, the tiny tots came prepared from home to make refreshing glasses of lemonade. Guided by their teachers and supported by their classmates, the children carefully squeezed lemons, stirred in sugar and water, added a dash of mint, and poured their creations into colourful cups ready to sell. Their lemonade stalls, decorated with bright posters, balloons, and handmade signs, added a vibrant charm to the school environment.

Priced between ₹10-₹20 per glass, the lemonade was sold to visiting parents and school staff, who were more than happy to support the initiative and sip on the delicious, homemade drink to beat the summer heat. The real highlight, however, was the confidence and excitement of the young sellers. With wide smiles, they called out to customers, shared their product, and proudly handled coins and notes, getting first-hand experience in customer service, teamwork, and money management.

The activity wasn’t just about selling lemonade; it was about fostering life skills. From understanding how to prepare a product to learning the art of communication, collaboration, and counting money, the children got a holistic learning experience. Teachers played a supportive role, encouraging the students to express themselves and celebrate each small success.

The Principal and staff members applauded the efforts of the young participants, recognising that such experiential learning activities lay a strong foundation for future skills and confidence. The event not only helped children understand the basics of entrepreneurship but also nurtured creativity, problem-solving, and decision-making in a fun-filled setting.

As the children wrapped up their stalls and counted their earnings with gleaming eyes and cheerful hearts, it was clear: our tiny business stars had taken their first big steps into the real world, one lemon at a time!
