The celebration of World Health Day at Apeejay School, Tanda Road, was an embodiment of enthusiasm and dedication to health and wellness. The school grounds buzzed with excitement as students from Pre-nursery to class VIII gathered to kick off the day with a series of exercise routines. This session was not merely about physical activity; it was a powerful statement on the school’s commitment to instilling the importance of fitness from an early age.

A unique aspect of the day’s celebration was the emphasis on healthy eating. Students arrived with tiffins packed with nutritious foods, turning the school into a vibrant showcase of healthy choices. This initiative was a practical lesson in nutrition, demonstrating the school’s approach to holistic education where lessons extend beyond textbooks and into real-world applications. The variety of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and nuts displayed in their tiffins served as a visual feast and sparked discussions among students about the origins and benefits of these foods.

Learning Through Engagement

In the Pre-primary section, the air was filled with curiosity and joy as young learners embarked on a journey to discover the world of healthy foods. Through interactive and engaging sessions, students explored the nutritional value of various fruits and vegetables, learning about the benefits of incorporating such foods into their diets. These activities were designed to make the learning process both fun and informative, ensuring that the message of healthy living resonated with the students. To deepen their understanding, children participated in a “Healthy Food Craft” session, where they created colorful paper plates featuring their favourite fruits and vegetables, fostering a deeper connection with the food they eat.

The integration of rhymes and songs about fruits and vegetables added a layer of creativity to the day’s lessons. This approach not only made learning more enjoyable but also helped reinforce the concepts of nutrition and health memorably. The catchy tunes and lively performances turned the educational content into an entertaining experience, ensuring the messages would stick with the students long after the day ended.

A central theme of the day was the promotion of physical activity. A special fitness session brought together students of all ages, encouraging them to participate in exercises designed to enhance their physical well-being. This segment highlighted the school’s dedication to creating a culture of health and fitness, emphasising the belief that a healthy body is the foundation of a healthy mind. The session included a mix of traditional sports, yoga, and dance, showcasing the diverse ways to stay active and fit.

Expressing Gratitude and Appreciation

The day concluded with a heartfelt activity where students created thank-you cards for their mothers. These cards, personalised with thumb impressions, were a gesture of gratitude towards the pivotal role families play in supporting health and wellness at home. This activity served as a reminder of the importance of community and family support in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. The exchange of cards became a moment of emotional connection, highlighting the significance of gratitude and the shared journey toward health and wellness.
