Just a decade and slightly older, Arvaan Gupta is doing what many adults only dream of—publishing a book! A student of Class 6-B at Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg, Jalandhar, Arvaan recently authored The Battle Against Darkness, a gripping fantasy novel about a boy who saves the world from evil forces. Inspired by epic films like Harry Potter and Brahmastra, Arvaan channeled his love for storytelling into a book that’s already gaining attention. In this quick but delightful interview, the young author shares how the story took shape, how his school reacted to his big news, and what he plans to write next!
I had watched two movies—Brahmastra and Harry Potter—and I really liked the idea of fantasy and magic. Also, my friends were encouraging me to write something of my own. So I thought, why not write a book? And that’s how The Battle Against Darkness started!

Can you tell us the story in short? What’s it about?
Sure! It’s about a boy who sets out on a mission to save the world from evil darkness. There are magical challenges, enemies to defeat, and he has to be brave and smart to overcome everything. It’s full of adventure and excitement!
How did your classmates and teachers react when your book got published?
My teachers were really proud and very happy! They congratulated me and said it’s a big achievement. My friends were excited too—they all wanted to read the book!
Since when have you been writing stories? What do you enjoy most about writing?
I started writing after reading lots of storybooks. Reading made me imagine things, and I wanted to create my own characters and worlds. I enjoy writing because it lets me be creative and tell stories that no one else has told.
That’s wonderful. So what are you planning to write next?
I’m planning to write a book on my favourite footballer—Cristiano Ronaldo. He’s my hero! The story might be about how he plays for Portugal and wins the World Cup. I think it will be really fun to write.
That would be great! So we can expect more fantasy adventures from you in the future right?
Yes! I love fantasy stories, so I’ll probably write more of them along with other topics like football. I’m just getting started!
