Anubhav Gupta has just completed his MBBS and has recently joined Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Government Medical College, Chhainsa, Faridabad as a Junior Resident. In a quick interview, the alumnus from Apeejay School, Charkhi Dadri discusses his journey and future aspirations. Read edited excerpts:
Congratulations on completing your MBBS! Can you tell us about what you’ve been up to since then?
My MBBS got over on 31st March. The NEET PG exams, which were scheduled for June, got postponed. So, in the meantime, I have joined Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Government Medical College in Faridabad as a Junior Resident.

What are your duties as a Junior Resident?
My duties include seeing patients in the OPD (Outpatient Department) while continuing my studies simultaneously. It’s a challenging but rewarding experience.
So when did you first realise you wanted to be a doctor? Did this inspiration strike during your time at Apeejay School, Charkhi Dadri?
Yes, absolutely. The inspiration to become a doctor struck me during my time at Charkhi Dadri. It was around class 4 or 5 when it became my dream. I have always had a deep desire to serve humanity and an interest in medicine. I wanted to help people, and that passion has only grown stronger over the years.
How were your days at Apeejay School, Charkhi Dadri?
Those were beautiful days. In class 9, I was the house marshal for Nanak House and later became the vice-captain of the house. I actively participated in and organised all special and class assemblies. I took part in almost every sports event, be it the Apeejay Premier League, chess, table tennis, cricket, football, or handball. I won positions in all of them.

How did the teachers at Apeejay School influence you?
The teachers were incredibly encouraging. They helped me build confidence in stage performances, event organisation, and teamwork. These skills have been immensely helpful during my MBBS years. I am very grateful to them for their guidance and support.
Can you tell us about your MBBS journey?
I did my MBBS straight after class 12. Initially, it seemed very tough. The studies were challenging, requiring focus and a considerable amount of time to understand. However, with hard work, things gradually improved. I made good friends, and everything started to seem doable.
What are your next career aims?
I aim to pursue a postgraduate degree in medicine or radiology. These fields fascinate me, and I believe I can make a significant impact in either.
Any advice for current students at Apeejay School, Charkhi Dadri?
This is the best school and I miss it a lot. I am still in touch with my teachers and am grateful for their help in building my confidence. My advice would be to respect your teachers, follow their guidance, stay motivated, and actively participate in extracurricular activities. It will help in your holistic development.
