From Code to Calculations: A Week of Technical Exploration

The Engineering Club under the School of Engineering and Technology at Apeejay Institute of Management & Engineering Technical Campus (AIMETC), Jalandhar, successfully organised National Science Week. The week-long celebration aimed to nurture scientific temperament, technical excellence, and innovative thinking among students while strengthening their practical understanding of emerging technologies.

Dr. Rajesh Bagga, Director of AIMETC, appreciated the Engineering Club’s initiative in organising such an enriching academic programme. He emphasised the importance of bridging the gap between classroom learning and industry expectations through hands-on workshops and expert-led sessions. Encouraging students to actively participate in such events, he highlighted that continuous learning and exposure to evolving technologies are essential for building strong technical competencies.

National Science Week commenced with a three-day Workshop on Website Designing. The workshop was designed to equip students with essential skills required to conceptualize, design, and develop functional and visually appealing websites. Participants were introduced to core concepts such as layout planning, user interface design, content structuring, and balancing aesthetics with functionality. The sessions focused heavily on experiential learning, providing hands-on practice to help students understand current industry standards and digital trends. Emphasis was also laid on collaborative work among designers, developers, and content creators to create impactful and user-friendly web solutions.

On February 27, an expert session on the “Role of Database Management Systems (DBMS) in Career Opportunities and AI Systems” was conducted. The session highlighted the critical role of DBMS in handling large and complex datasets in today’s data-driven environment. Students gained insights into how structured, secure, and efficient database systems support organizational decision-making and form the backbone of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning applications. The speaker also elaborated on emerging career prospects in data science, analytics, database administration, and AI development, motivating students to develop strong foundational knowledge in database technologies.

The concluding session on the “Application of Mathematics” across diverse domains. The discussion underscored how mathematics serves as the fundamental pillar of modern technology, engineering, finance, and scientific research. Key applications such as search engine algorithms, cryptography in cybersecurity, statistical data analysis, and mathematical modeling in engineering, medicine, and business were explored in detail. The session also demonstrated the relevance of mathematics in daily life, including budgeting, logical reasoning, and structured problem-solving.

National Science Week concluded on an inspiring note with enthusiastic participation from students across departments. The programme was successfully conducted under the guidance and coordination of Ms. Atulika and Mr. Vikas Kumar, faculty members of the School of Engineering, whose dedicated efforts ensured smooth execution. The event reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to fostering innovation, research-driven learning, and holistic technical development among aspiring engineers.
