Recently, Apeejay School, Model Town, Jalandhar, came alive with vibrant colours, rhythmic beats, and heartfelt performances as the school celebrated the festival of Baisakhi with great enthusiasm. Staying true to its commitment to holistic education, the school organised a cultural event that beautifully blended tradition with talent.

Baisakhi, a festival of joy and thanksgiving for the farming community, also marks the formation of the Khalsa Panth by Guru Gobind Singhji. Highlighting the spiritual and cultural relevance of the festival, the event aimed to instill values of gratitude, unity, and pride in India’s rich heritage. The esteemed Mrs Sushma Paul Berlia, Chairman, Apeejay Stya & Svran Group, Chancellor, Apeejay Stya University, and Chairman, Apeejay Education, believes that such programmes foster a spirit of love and brotherhood among students.
Special guests RJ Reet, Deepal, and Piyush graced the occasion and added energy to the celebration. Their presence inspired the students, encouraging them to value both tradition and creativity.
The programme began with a serene shabd rendition by the teachers, setting a devotional tone for the event. Their heartfelt singing captivated the audience and reflected the spiritual essence of the festival. Their performance was followed by a poetry recitation by students, celebrating the spirit of Punjab and the significance of the harvest season. The poems echoed themes of gratitude, cultural pride, and unity.
Heartfelt performances steal the show
One of the key highlights of the event was the enactment of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, performed powerfully by students. The emotionally charged act served as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made during India’s freedom struggle. It left a lasting impact on the audience, drawing appreciation for both the message and the performers.

The cultural celebration continued with a short play, adding drama and storytelling to the event. Energetic bhangra performances by the students brought the stage to life and were met with loud cheers and applause.
Words of encouragement and inspiration
The Officiating Principal, Mrs Priyanka Grover, addressed the gathering and extended warm Baisakhi greetings. She explained the importance of the festival in both historical and agricultural contexts, emphasising how it reflects the happiness of Punjab’s farmers as they prepare to harvest their crops.

She appreciated the efforts of the teachers and students in making the celebration a grand success. She encouraged them to continue taking part in such events, which build confidence and help students stay connected to their roots.
With every performance, Apeejay School, Model Town, once again reinforced its belief in value-based education.
