‘Friendship’: Poem by Srishti Vashisth, Apeejay Stya University

An ode to my best friend Neil Singh
In bonds of blood, they say we’re tied,
Yet friendships are the gems we find
The ones we choose, with hearts aligned,
In them, the true family we confide.
Deeper runs friendship’s flow
Than shared bloodlines may ever know
Through ups and downs, they never go
True friends, a steady beacon’s glow.
Though betrayals may leave us scarred,
With time, those wounds can be unbarred
For loyal hearts, it’s not too hard
To mend the bond that time has marred.
Happiness they bring, like golden rays
A love that brightens darkest days
In friendship’s arms, a soul can raise
To heights unknown, in warm embrace.
Love may falter, hearts may break,
But friends, through storms, will never shake,
In shivering cold, they’ll never forsake,
With them, life’s journey, we undertake.
Time may pass, like sands in the breeze,
Yet true friends come back with ease,
When needed most, they calmly appease,
And bring solace to the soul’s unease.
In shadows deep, they’ll take your hand,
And guide you from the darkest land
With unwavering loyalty, they’ll stand,
Facing demons, a united band.
So choose your friends with utmost care
For they are gems beyond compare
To cherish, love, and always share
In this friendship, life finds flair.
Hold them close, let trust abound,
In friendship’s realm, hearts are crowned
With love that echoes a sweet sound
A void filled, joy newly found.
