Friendship Day Special: A tale of an unconventional bond

Published

on

I have always had a different idea about what my ideal best friend should be like. Throughout my childhood, I held the belief that only a girl could be a girl’s best friend and vice-versa. However, as I reached a certain stage in my life, I came to realise that I was completely wrong. I had many friends during my school life, and some of them still hold a special place in my heart. Despite having these friends in my life, I never truly encountered someone who could be called a “best friend”.

It wasn’t until I came to college that I finally met my best friend, Gagan. In the first semester, we didn’t talk much, but our friendship blossomed in the second semester. The bond we share today is so special to me, and it’s difficult to put every feeling into words. Gagan is always there for me, even when I get angry or frustrated over trivial matters. He has a calming and respectful demeanour, which makes my life much better and more manageable.

I deeply admire Gagan for his amazing qualities, such as his respect for women around him, his thoughtful gestures to make me smile, and his caring nature. Beyond that, he allows me to be myself, which is something I greatly appreciate. Our friendship exemplifies that a boy and a girl can not only be friends but also best friends.

On this friendship day, I want to express my gratitude to Gagan for being there for me, for saving me from boredom, for getting me wonderful food, for caring about me, and for understanding me even when I don’t say a word. A friend like Gagan is a true blessing, and I am grateful to have him in my life.
