For Pooja Arora, Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg, Jalandhar isn’t just an educational institution — it’s a second home for her children, Nishtha and Rehan. With a warm smile and heartfelt anecdotes, she recounts how the school’s teachers go beyond academics to offer emotional support, mentorship, and encouragement. While Nishtha, a Class 10 student, thrives in math and science, Rehan, in Class 5, is blossoming as a cricketer and dancer. In this candid interview, Pooja ma’am opens up about the values, teachers, and leadership that make the school truly special.

Ma’am, how would you describe Nishtha’s journey so far at Apeejay Mahavir Marg?

Nishtha has been doing brilliantly. For us, Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg feels like a second home. I always tell my kids, going to school is like going to their nani’s house—full of warmth, comfort, and care. The school has given her confidence and a space to grow.

What makes the school environment feel so personal and family-like for you?
The teachers are incredibly supportive and always approachable. Even if a teacher doesn’t teach a particular subject, they are ready to listen and help. They encourage children to come forward with any problem, academic or personal, and they work together to solve it. That, to me, is what makes Apeejay a family.

You spoke very fondly about the teachers. What, according to you, sets them apart?
They give more than 100%—they give 101%! They don’t wear superhero capes, but to me, they are the real heroes. Their positivity, patience, and the way they welcome feedback with a smile is just unmatched.

And how would you describe the role of the Principal in shaping this atmosphere?
Principal ma’am is magical! She creates such a positive and welcoming vibe with her smile and calm demeanour. Managing an institution isn’t easy, but she makes it look effortless. Her presence adds to the sense of trust and warmth we feel as parents.

Nishtha seems to have strong academic interests. What are her favourite subjects and future aspirations?
She’s naturally inclined towards Maths and Computers, and she also enjoys Science. She’s still figuring out what she wants to pursue, but I can see her leaning towards something in the technical or scientific field. She’s a very communicative, confident child—loves discussing ideas with her teachers and working for her house team.

What about extracurricular activities? Is she active beyond academics?
Absolutely! Nishtha loves engaging in school events and discussions. She enjoys sitting with her teachers, brainstorming ideas, and contributing to school life. Her people skills are excellent—she blends in beautifully with peers and elders alike.

And your younger son Rehan—what’s he like as a student?
Rehan is in Class 5 and is very different from Nishtha. He’s good in Science, English, and Maths, but his real passion lies in sports and dance. He recently got an award for Best Bowler in a cricket series outside school and keeps winning dance competitions in school. He’s full of energy and creativity, and I’m excited to see where that takes him!
