Pursuing engineering during the pandemic years was not easy for students, yet many adapted and found ways to build a strong career path. One such inspiring story is that of Anirudh Chauhan, a B.Tech (CSE) graduate from Apeejay Stya University, Gurugram from the batch of 2022. Currently working as a Backend Developer in SAP at a company in Gurgaon, Anirudh shares how his time at Apeejay shaped his technical foundation, helped him secure placements, and gave him the confidence to grow in the IT industry.
Why did you choose Apeejay Stya University for your B.Tech in Computer Science?
I had received very positive reviews from a friend who graduated from Apeejay before me. Based on his feedback and the university’s focus on practical learning, I decided to join Apeejay for my engineering journey.
How was your experience of learning during the pandemic years?

Honestly, it was challenging because I spent only about one and a half years physically on campus, while the rest of my course was online. The sudden shift was new for both teachers and students. However, the faculty adapted quickly, and I was able to continue learning. Despite the challenges, the Oracle training sessions offered by the university proved to be a game-changer, as they helped me step into the ERP domain, which I am working in today.
What kind of skills did you develop at Apeejay?
The most important skill I gained was in coding, which built my confidence as a computer science student. Apart from that, teamwork during projects helped me improve my communication skills, though I believe my core technical learning was the strongest outcome.
Tell us about your career journey after graduation.
Through the university’s placement committee, I secured my first job with Motherson Sumi Systems Ltd as a Backend Developer in SAP. Later, I moved to my current company in Gurgaon, where I continue to work in backend development. The placement support from Apeejay was very helpful in kick-starting my career.
What advice would you give to upcoming engineering students?
One key piece of advice is: don’t rely too much on AI tools. They are only about 70% accurate and won’t teach you everything. If you depend on them completely, you’ll miss out on learning the fundamentals. Instead, focus on strengthening your basic coding and problem-solving skills—that’s what will truly help you grow in the long run.
