‘Focus on mastering at least one coding language’

Rahul Dhunna is an alumnus of Apeejay Institute of Management & Engineering Technical Campus  (AIMETC) in Jalandhar. He pursued his MCA from AIMETC and now successfully runs his own business Avis Technologies. Speaking with us about his company and life at the alma mater, Rahul shares valuable life lessons with the current students. Read edited excerpts:

Tell us about your best memories from college days?

The best part was going out for competitions all across Punjab. I took part in a lot of website development competitions. I even got 6-7 first prizes back then. It was a great experience and feels great to relive those memories even now.

Wow! So how did the MCA from AIMETC help you in life?
I was a bit lost in my career trajectories before doing the MCA. I had no concrete aim in life. As I enrolled in this course, I learnt PHP coding language. I got industry experience as well and later opened my business with my friend Hitesh.

How did the faculty at Apeejay prepare you for the job market?

The faculty has always been very supportive and are great educators. They treated me very nicely. They were aware of my career trajectory, that I wanted to go down a different path and they supported me. I remember Ranjit sir would encourage me a lot.

I gained a lot of experience and finally, decided to start my own company with my friend Hitesh.

Tell us about your current work profile?

I am the CEO of Avis Technologies. We deal in developing websites and mobile applications as well as do digital marketing. Currently, we have 60 plus employees.

Finally, one piece of advice for current students?

Focus on mastering at least one coding language. This is an IT industry truth bomb and I am telling you beforehand. Do focussed work.
