‘Fashion design has always been a passion’

Komal, a graduate from Apeejay Stya University, shares how thrilled she is to embark on her professional journey

Komal, who completed her B Design programme from School of Design and Visual Arts at Apeejay Stya University, Gurugram is absolutely thrilled to embark on her professional journey with Trade Uno Fabric. “It’s an exciting opportunity to learn, grow, and make meaningful contributions. I’m looking forward to collaborating with talented individuals and tackling new challenges along the way.I’m ready to embrace every opportunity that comes my way,” expressed Komal, during this interview.

When asked if she always aspired to work in the field of design, she replied, “Absolutely! Fashion design has always been a passion of mine. From a young age, I was fascinated by the creativity and expression that fashion allows. I’ve always loved exploring different styles and trends, and I found joy in sketching designs and experimenting with fabrics,” she shared. 

The Apeejay graduate further added, “Over the years, my interest evolved into a strong desire to pursue a career in the fashion industry, where I can combine my creativity with my love for art and design. I’m excited to contribute my unique perspective and bring innovative ideas to the table.”

Explaining how she prepared for the placement interviews, Komal highlighted, “I prepared for the placement interview by following a multifaceted approach. First, I researched the company thoroughly, studying its history, values, and recent collections to understand its design aesthetic and target audience. I also reviewed industry trends to ensure I could speak knowledgeably about current movements in fashion.”

She also said, “I revisited my portfolio, selecting pieces that best represented my skills and creativity, and practiced articulating the inspiration and process behind each design. I conducted mock interviews with friends to refine my responses to common questions and to receive constructive feedback. Finally, I made sure to prepare thoughtful questions to ask during the interview, demonstrating my genuine interest in the role and the company. Overall, I aimed to showcase my passion for fashion and my readiness to contribute to the team.”

She further mentioned that the faculty at Apeejay played a crucial role in preparing her for the placement process. “They provided invaluable guidance by offering personalised feedback on my portfolio and design concepts, helping me refine my work to meet industry standards. They also conducted mock interviews, which allowed me to practice my responses and gain confidence in presenting myself professionally.Their support and encouragement throughout the process truly helped me feel prepared and confident as I approached my placement,” she explained.
