Tiny tales come alive as Apeejay School, Tanda Road, pays tribute to literary legends

Recently, Apeejay School, Tanda Road, Jalandhar, hosted a colourful and inspiring Fancy Dress Activity for students of Classes I and II. Themed Famous Literary Personalities, the event turned the spotlight on young learners as they stepped into the shoes of some of the world’s most celebrated authors and poets. The activity aimed to introduce children to the richness of literature while enhancing their communication and presentation skills.

The school’s multipurpose hall was transformed into a lively literary stage. Children arrived dressed as literary stalwarts like Rabindranath Tagore, Amrita Pritam, Sudha Murthy, Sarojini Naidu, Jhumpa Lahiri, and JK Rowling, among others. Each child took to the stage, confidently introducing themselves as the character they were portraying.

They didn’t just dress the part; they embraced the persona as the students recited quotes, shared facts, and delivered short narratives, bringing to life the essence of each literary figure. Whether it was Tagore’s poetic grace, Rowling’s imaginative charm, or Pritam’s emotional depth, the children captured the spirit of their chosen personalities with enthusiasm and authenticity.

Blending fun with learning

While the event was fun and full of vibrant costumes, its educational value was just as noteworthy. The activity fostered a deeper understanding of literary history among the students. It also helped them gain confidence in public speaking and self-expression. Teachers observed that the children showed great interest while preparing for the event — learning about the authors, reading about their works, and practising their lines.

The initiative also aligned with the school’s broader objective of encouraging holistic development. By combining academics with creative expression, the Fancy Dress Activity provided a multi-dimensional learning experience for the young students.

In all, the Fancy Dress Activity was more than just a dress-up event. It was a celebration of knowledge, confidence, and imagination. By paying tribute to literary legends, the students created a memorable learning experience for themselves and everyone who witnessed their charming performances.
