As part of the Prerna: Experiential Learning Program of the Ministry of Education, students from Classes VI-IX at Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park, attended a special screening of the film Chalo Jeete Hain. The film, inspired by the childhood of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, presented a narrative rooted in values of service, empathy, and responsibility.
The film tells the story of a young boy’s search for meaning in life. The screening encouraged students to look beyond academics and think about the principles that shape character. The simplicity of the film allowed learners to connect with its central message: true leadership begins with a spirit of giving and a sense of responsibility toward others.
Building awareness through dialogue
After the screening, a reflective quiz was organised to help students process what they had seen. This activity encouraged them to think critically about the values presented in the film and relate them to their own lives. Students were not only answering questions but also engaging with ideas that challenged them to grow as thoughtful individuals.

The Vice-principal, Ms Vandana Bansal, led an engaging discussion with the students. Her interaction helped them interpret the film’s deeper meaning, reinforcing the importance of empathy and responsibility in daily life. By framing these values within the context of the students’ experiences, she made the message of the film both personal and practical.
What this means for young learners
The session was more than just a movie screening. It became a space for reflection, dialogue, and learning. For young learners, experiences like these build the foundation for becoming compassionate and responsible citizens. The event highlighted how education, when combined with real-life stories and guided reflection, can shape character and prepare students for challenges beyond the classroom.
