Manvi Sharma, an alumna of Apeejay School, Charkhi Dadri (Batch of 2017), is now making her mark as an Authorized Officer at UBS, where she blends finance and technology to drive innovation. Representing India in the GTP Global Forum, she contributes to high-level discussions on leadership and digital transformation in finance. In this interview, Manvi shares her industry experience, school memories, and valuable advice for students who dream of making it big in global financial firms.
Manvi, what does your current role at UBS entail?
At UBS, I work at the intersection of finance and technology. My role involves streamlining financial processes through tech-based solutions. A typical day includes collaborating with cross-functional teams, optimizing operations, and identifying innovation opportunities. One project I’m particularly proud of involved optimizing authentication methods for accessing financial data enhancing both efficiency and security.
What current trends in finance and tech excite you most?
The industry is undergoing a rapid transformation. Some major trends I closely follow include:
AI in Finance: For automating processes and detecting fraud.
Blockchain & Digital Assets: These are revolutionizing transactions and creating new systems like DeFi (Decentralized Finance).
Cloud & Cybersecurity: Crucial for safeguarding financial operations at scale.
These innovations are shaping a more secure and responsive financial landscape.

What advice would you give students aiming for careers in global finance and tech?
Focus on:
Strong Fundamentals: Be clear on finance, tech, and logical problem-solving.
Soft Skills: Communication and leadership are just as important as technical expertise.
Global Exposure: Participate in internships and forums.
Always stay curious and be proactive—it’s the mindset that matters most.
What keeps you motivated in such a dynamic industry?
Three things:
The constant evolution of finance and technology.
The impact of my work on global financial systems.
The personal growth and independence that comes with it.
Every challenge is an opportunity to innovate, and that keeps the journey exciting.
What lessons from school still guide you today?
Discipline, time management, adaptability, and public speaking all were nurtured at Apeejay. They’ve laid a strong foundation for both my career and personal development.
