In a candid telephonic conversation, the father of Saanvi Sharma, a Class 10 student of Apeejay School, Greater Noida, shared his journey from being an engineer to founding a successful IT company. With a background in consulting and a degree from IIT Kanpur, he shed light on the current trends in the software industry, offered guidance for aspiring engineers, and reflected on his parenting philosophy. Here’s what he had to say:
Can you walk us through your entrepreneurial journey and the vision behind MS Technologies?
I started MS Technologies with a focus on software development, digital marketing, and consulting services. My background includes 12 years in top consulting firms like PwC and KPMG, which deeply influenced our business model. Unlike traditional IT firms, our goal is not just to code – we begin with understanding the client’s business challenges. That’s how we offer smarter, tailored solutions.
How does a consulting-first model benefit clients in the software industry?
In most IT companies, a client brings a requirement and the software is built to meet that. But businesses need more than just development – they need strategic solutions. Our approach includes analysing their processes, pain points, and growth goals. This makes our IT services more holistic, future-ready, and aligned with ROI. Consulting isn’t an add-on, it’s at the core.
With AI and automation gaining momentum, where should industry stakeholders and students focus?
AI is transforming how businesses operate. From automation and analytics to customer engagement, it’s everywhere. Students should look beyond just ChatGPT and explore areas like AI-driven process improvement, predictive analytics, and domain-specific applications. For industry leaders, it’s time to rethink traditional systems and move toward AI-augmented decision-making.
What leadership lessons have you drawn from building a company without being a developer yourself?
You don’t have to be a developer to lead a tech company. Vision and domain understanding are more crucial than technical execution. Building a team with the right skills and staying focused on solving real problems has been the foundation of our success.
Lastly, what would you say to young engineers and future entrepreneurs?
Engineering is not just about a degree – it’s about enjoying the process of learning and solving problems. If you’re consistent, curious, and passionate, you’ll find success. Entrepreneurship, similarly, is about persistence, adaptability, and believing in your vision even when challenges arise.
