Recently, a comprehensive Cyber Safety Awareness Session was held at Apeejay School, Charkhi Dadri, led by Mr Ankit Poonia, ASI from Charkhi Dadri. Designed for students of Classes VI to IX and XI, the session aimed to empower young learners with essential knowledge to navigate the digital world responsibly and safely. The programme proved highly engaging, informative and timely, addressing the growing challenges faced by today’s tech-savvy generation.
The session opened by highlighting the surge in children’s digital exposure and the urgent need to stay vigilant online. He introduced students to various forms of cybercrimes; identity theft, phishing, cyberbullying, online fraud, misuse of social media, and unsafe communication practices. Using real-life incidents and relatable scenarios, he explained how seemingly harmless online actions can sometimes lead to serious repercussions. His clear and practical approach helped students understand common cyber traps and the importance of making thoughtful digital choices.

The resource person also guided students through essential preventive strategies like creating strong passwords, enabling privacy settings, using two-factor authentication, and verifying online information before engaging with it. He advised them on responsible social media behaviour, understanding digital footprints, and reporting suspicious activities. Special emphasis was laid on avoiding the sharing of personal information and consulting trusted adults when confronted with unfamiliar online interactions.
A highlight of the programme was the interactive query session, where students asked insightful questions about cyberbullying, online gaming addiction, inappropriate content, account hacking, and safe virtual friendships. Mr. Poonia addressed each query with patience and practical insight.
The session concluded with Dr Vineet Vasishtha, Principal of the school, expressing gratitude. “I extend my heartfelt appreciation to Mr Poonia for conducting an enriching and insightful Cyber Safety Awareness Session for our students. In today’s technology-driven world, guiding children towards responsible online conduct is essential, and this session served that purpose effectively. The enthusiasm of students and the clarity with which their queries were addressed made the programme highly impactful. I believe such initiatives play a vital role in shaping informed and vigilant digital citizens. My best wishes to Mr Poonia for his continued efforts in promoting cyber awareness,” he shared and thanked Mr Poonia for his valuable contribution, and presented him with a token of appreciation.
