World Youth Skills Day is an annual event celebrated on July 15 to raise awareness about the importance of equipping young people with skills for employment, decent work, and entrepreneurship. The objective is to bridge the skills gap that many young people face upon entering the workforce. By integrating the celebration of this day into school activities, students can have an upper hand while gaining early exposure to the importance of skill development.

In celebration of World Youth Skills Day, Apeejay School Panchsheel Park organised a special assembly themed — Empowering Youth: Building Skills for Tomorrow. The day saw enthusiastic participation from students of classes IX-XII, specifically from Vivekananda House. The participating students highlighted critical values such as perseverance, innovation, and collaboration through a variety of engaging presentations.

The assembly began with an informational talk that outlined the significance of critical thinking, communication, creativity, and digital literacy in today’s rapidly changing world. Following this, an inspirational poem was recited, capturing the essence of determination and the pursuit of excellence. An interactive skit further reinforced these values, showcasing real-life scenarios where these skills are essential.

A standout performance on ‘Skill India’ underscored the government’s initiative to promote skill development across the nation, emphasising the pivotal role of skilled youth in driving economic growth and innovation.

Throughout the assembly, Swami Vivekananda’s powerful quote, Arise, awake, and stop not till the goal is reached, echoed as a motivational mantra, inspiring students to embrace continuous learning and self-improvement.

The event concluded with a strong message for the young learners: viewing these skills as essential components of experiential learning is crucial for facing future challenges with confidence and resilience.

The assembly successfully highlighted the importance of skill development in empowering youth to become adaptable and resourceful individuals in a dynamic global landscape.
