In its continued pursuit of educational excellence and holistic development, Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg, Jalandhar conducted a meticulously curated Two-Day Capacity Enhancement Programme. Designed to elevate the teaching-learning experience and deepen professional engagement, the programme saw enthusiastic participation from faculty across departments.

The event opened with an inspiring session titled “Art as a Therapy”, conducted by Mr. Pawan Kumar, Head of the Fine Arts Department. With poise and depth, Mr. Kumar highlighted how art transcends aesthetics to serve as a healing force, capable of nurturing emotional well-being in students and educators alike. His examples of integrating creative expression into daily classroom experiences resonated deeply with the audience.

This was followed by a powerful address by Mr. Sukhpal Singh, Head of the Social Studies Department, on “Gender Sensitivity in Schools”. The session unpacked the nuances of creating an inclusive environment and provided actionable strategies for teachers to promote respect, equity, and empathy within the school ecosystem. His words served as a reminder that a truly progressive school is one where every learner feels seen and safe.

Day Two commenced with the art of narration taking centre stage. Ms. Rachna Oberoi, Head of the English Department (Grades 6-10), presented a compelling session on “Storytelling as Pedagogy”. Blending theory with charm, she demonstrated how storytelling can emotionally engage students, simplify complex ideas, and bridge the gap between curriculum and real-world understanding.

Next, Ms. Rosy Chauhan, Head of the Hindi Department, took the baton forward with her session on “Significance of Language”. With conviction and clarity, she championed the value of multilingualism in classrooms and encouraged educators to celebrate linguistic diversity. Her talk was a tribute to language as a vessel of culture, connection, and cognitive development.

The final presentation, “Happy Teachers, Happy Classrooms”, was delivered by Ms. Sanyukta Jyoti. A heartfelt ode to emotional wellness in education, her session underscored the importance of teacher happiness in shaping vibrant, responsive, and nurturing learning spaces. Her insights especially struck a chord with early years educators.

To bring concepts into practice, Vice Principal Ms. Aarti Shorey led an engaging Story Weaving Activity, which allowed teachers to collaborate, create, and reflect through narrative play. The hands-on exercise not only reinforced the storytelling framework but also fostered camaraderie and creativity among staff.

In her concluding address, Ms. Shorey lauded the presenters and reiterated the school’s commitment to continuous professional development. “These sessions,” she noted, “are not just events—they are catalysts for growth, and will now be a regular feature in our academic calendar.”

The programme concluded on a note of reflection, unity, and enthusiasm. With sharpened skills and inspired minds, the faculty stands better equipped to shape classrooms where curiosity thrives, and learning knows no bounds.
