Apeejay Stya University’s AIU-ASU-AADC successfully organised a five-day Online Faculty Development Programme (FDP) titled “Curriculum Design, Development, and Mapping: A Hands-on Approach for Outcome-Based Education” under the Gyanodaya FDP Series from October 3 to 8, 2025. The event addressed a critical need in higher education — aligning curriculum design, assessment, and teaching methodologies with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the quality parameters prescribed by accreditation bodies such as NAAC and NBA.

The FDP was coordinated by Dr. Shatakshi Srivastava, with Dr. Neelam Mahala and Ms. Nandini Sinha serving as co-coordinators. It aimed to empower faculty members with practical tools and strategies to design learner-centric curricula and measurable learning outcomes in line with national mandates.

The five-day programme was meticulously structured, featuring two sessions each day that blended lectures, case discussions, peer reviews, and interactive workshops. The opening day focused on introducing participants to the theoretical foundations of NEP 2020 and Outcome-Based Education (OBE). Sessions guided faculty on how to align institutional vision and mission with Programme Educational Objectives (PEOs) and Programme Outcomes (POs).

Subsequent sessions delved into designing Course Outcomes (COs), structuring curriculum content, developing rubrics and assessment tools, mapping CO-PO matrices, and performing gap analyses. The FDP also explored the integration of stakeholder feedback and the preparation of course files using digital tools. These sessions provided participants with both macro-level perspectives on curriculum planning and micro-level assessment methodologies.

The FDP witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members, assistant professors, and early-career academicians representing diverse disciplines and institutions across the country. Eminent resource persons and experts from the fields of curriculum design, pedagogy, assessment, and education policy enriched the programme through insightful discussions and live demonstrations. Participants especially appreciated the tool-based exercises on CO-PO mapping and attainment matrices, describing them as highly beneficial in simplifying complex concepts.

By the conclusion of the programme, participants expressed enhanced confidence in applying outcome-based education principles within their institutions. Many shared plans to review and redesign their course and programme structures based on the learnings acquired during the sessions.

The FDP successfully achieved its objective of strengthening faculty capacity in curriculum design, mapping outcomes, and ensuring compliance with accreditation standards. It also fostered a spirit of innovation and academic excellence among educators. The organising team extended heartfelt gratitude to all resource persons, administrative staff, and participants for their active engagement and support, making the programme an enriching and impactful initiative.
