The French Day Assembly at Apeejay Svran Global School, Faridabad, unfolded as a vibrant celebration of history, culture, and learning. With the theme Echoes of Liberty: A French Tale, the event paid tribute to the French Revolution’s enduring ideals and explored the close connection between France and India.

The morning began with greetings in French and English, setting a welcoming tone for the assembly. Students then shared the Thought of the Day, which reflected on liberty as a foundation for knowledge and growth. A student speaker followed with a short yet impactful address, tracing the historical ties between France and India and noting how this friendship continues to thrive in the modern, interconnected world.

Theatre brings the French Revolution to life

The highlight of the programme was an engaging theatrical performance that transported the audience to 18th-century France. With lively characters, humorous moments, and powerful dialogue, the play brought the French Revolution’s core values, liberty, equality, and fraternity, into sharp focus. The creative retelling balanced drama and wit, ensuring the historical narrative remained both educational and entertaining.

The atmosphere shifted from drama to celebration with a spirited dance performance to the French hit Magic in the Air. The choreography was filled with energy, symbolising joy, unity, and the cultural vibrancy that comes from learning about and embracing different traditions.

Learning through experience

By blending speech, theatre, music, and dance, the assembly offered a rich, multi-layered experience. It encouraged students to see learning as more than memorising facts — it is about engaging with stories, understanding different perspectives, and recognising how history shapes today’s values.

The event ended with a reminder that the echoes of liberty are not confined to history books. They remain a living inspiration, urging us to value freedom, respect diversity, and build bridges across cultures.
