Following a healthy diet does not mean you have to forgo the sheer delight of a yummy dessert. Instead of ordering in, you can whip up a homemade dessert with healthy and fresh ingredients.
Wondering what to make and how? Sheena Ahuja, a Home Science teacher at Apeejay School, Faridabad Sector 15, shares an easy recipe for Pineapple Upside Down Cake. It is decadent in its look and taste and contains the refreshing taste of pineapple. What’s more? It can be made with healthy alternatives like wheat flour (atta) and brown sugar. Let’s take a look at the recipe:
Pineapple Upside Down cake
Ingredients
Whole wheat flour-1 cup
Condensed milk-1 tin
Butter-100 gm
Milk-1/2 cup
Vanilla essence-1/2 tsp
Unpolished brown sugar-1/4 cup
Pineapple rings in syrup 6-8
Baking powder-1 and a half tsp

Method
* Sieve the dry ingredients-wheat flour, baking powder, and baking soda.
* Blend melted butter and condensed milk along with vanilla essence till a smooth batter is ready.
* Add the dry ingredients in small portions and blend well.
* Add 1/2 cup of milk in case the batter is thick.
* Grease the baking dish with a little butter and dust with flour.
* Sprinkle brown sugar crystals evenly in the baking dish.
* Place the baking dish on low flame till the sugar caramelises.
* Now place rings of pineapple and pour the cake batter.
* In a preheated oven, place your baking dish at 150 degrees for 55 min.
* Once done, place the cake dish on a cooling rack.
*Turn your cake and place it on a serving plate. Serve hot.
Children will love this recipe! In fact, they can try making this cake on their own and give a treat to family members.
