Do you truly make your own decisions?

I recently came across a thought: ‘You are the artist of your life; don’t hand the paintbrush to anyone else.’ But, do we genuinely make decisions on our own? I doubt it. Many of us ponder what others will think about our choices, whether it’s about the clothes we wear or the food we eat. Society can swiftly influence our decisions.

If I wear this dress, what will people say about me? If I eat more, will they judge me for being overweight? Why do we often consider others’ opinions before making choices that are true to our hearts?
Once we start living authentically, doing what genuinely makes us happy, people begin to appreciate us for who we are. If we don’t love and embrace ourselves, why should others refrain from passing judgment?
Before worrying about society’s opinions, prioritize what your heart desires. What brings you happiness should matter more than societal expectations. People may argue that they judge because it’s their nature, but conforming to someone else’s standards isn’t the right approach.
Place yourself first, and don’t change for the sake of others’ opinions. The next time you make a decision, try doing it without worrying about society’s expectations. Witness how your happiness can be unaffected by external judgments.
