Rajaji National Park, located at the foothills of the Shivalik range, is a sprawling 820 sq km haven for wildlife enthusiasts. Covering parts of Dehradun, Pauri, and Saharanpur, this tiger reserve offers a unique opportunity to witness the rich biodiversity of northern India. It is home to an impressive array of animals, including Bengal tigers, leopards, Asian elephants, Himalayan black bears, and barking deer, among others.

A safari through Rajaji’s dense forests provides an exhilarating experience for visitors eager to spot these majestic creatures. The park’s proximity to Dehradun, Haridwar, and Delhi makes it easily accessible, with a journey of just 60 km from Dehradun. Besides tigers and leopards, bird watchers will be captivated by the variety of bird species, including hornbills and vultures, that make Rajaji a prime bird-watching destination.

The best time to visit Rajaji National Park is from November 15 to June 15 when the park is open to visitors. During these months, the park teems with activity, and safaris offer a chance to spot the elusive wildlife that roams its landscapes. Visitors can explore the park through jeep safaris, where trained guides offer insights into the ecosystem and its inhabitants.

Entry fees are set at INR 150 for Indian visitors and INR 600 for foreign tourists, covering a three-hour safari. As the second tiger reserve in Uttarakhand, after the famous Jim Corbett National Park, Rajaji offers a more intimate wildlife experience, away from the crowds, making it a perfect destination for nature lovers seeking a peaceful escape.

Whether you’re an avid wildlife photographer, a nature enthusiast, or simply looking to unwind in the wilderness, Rajaji National Park promises an unforgettable adventure amidst pristine natural beauty.
