Students of Apeejay School, Kharghar took the world stage via a thrilling debate event
Declamation and debate are vital aspects of holistic education, allowing students to enhance their public speaking, critical thinking, and persuasive skills. Events like Model United Nations (MUN) conferences are essential platforms for nurturing young minds, enabling them to articulate thoughts clearly and confidently while engaging with global issues.
The second edition of the Apeejay-Kharghar Model United Nations (APJ-KH MUN) was successfully hosted by Apeejay School, Kharghar. This Inter-school event witnessed enthusiastic participation from 141 students across Navi Mumbai, who represented various committees like the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (UNCSW), All India Political Parties Meet (AIPPM), United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), and the International Press (IP).
The two-day conference provided a dynamic platform for students to engage in thought-provoking debates and discussions on pressing international issues. Participants showcased exceptional diplomacy, public speaking, and negotiation skills as they tackled global challenges, offering innovative solutions and fostering a deeper understanding of international relations.
The event also highlighted the importance of teamwork and collaboration, with students working together to draft resolutions and negotiate agreements, mimicking the real-world functioning of international organisations. By participating in APJ-KH MUN, students developed a keen sense of global citizenship, furthering their knowledge of foreign policy, diplomacy, and international cooperation.
The conference concluded with an awards ceremony recognising outstanding performances. Don Bosco School was declared the overall winner, while Amity International secured the runner-up position. The event’s success is a testament to the hard work and dedication of both the organising committee and the participants, reflecting their commitment to fostering a culture of learning, leadership, and dialogue.
Through initiatives like MUN 2024, Apeejay School, Kharghar, continues to empower students to become future leaders, equipped with the skills needed to navigate complex global issues.
