Digitisation, AI to become an integral part of curriculum

The Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has underscored the growing importance of digitalisation and artificial intelligence (AI) in India’s education system. Speaking at the 65th foundation day celebrations of the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) in New Delhi, the Minister announced several initiatives aimed at transforming teaching and learning for the future.

He launched the PM eVidya mobile application and DIKSHA 2.0, along with other measures designed to strengthen digital learning. He praised NCERT’s pivotal role in advancing the quality of education and curriculum development, adding that its contribution will be vital in shaping India’s educational reforms.

Emphasising the government’s vision of building a Samridhh Bharat by 2047, Pradhan said this goal can only be achieved if students are encouraged to nurture creativity and innovation. He urged NCERT to actively promote multilingualism to sharpen critical thinking and to ensure that knowledge is effectively translated into competency for the Amrit Peedhi — the generation of youth driving India’s future.

Highlighting the growing role of technology in classrooms, the Minister elaborated on the features of DIKSHA 2.0, an upgraded digital platform compatible across devices. The platform will offer structured lessons, adaptive assessments, and AI-powered learning tools like “Read Aloud” and text translation in 12 Indian languages, making content more inclusive and accessible.

Pradhan reiterated the government’s commitment to fostering a technology-driven education ecosystem, with NCERT at the forefront of developing curriculum frameworks that empower learners with future-ready skills. He expressed confidence that these reforms will bring about a paradigm shift in India’s teaching and learning methods, preparing students to thrive in a knowledge-driven global economy.
