Hardik Bajpai, a final-year graphic design student at Apeejay Stya University (ASU), Gurugram, has spent the last four years honing his craft and discovering new depths of creativity. As he nears graduation, Hardik looks back on his time at ASU, sharing the experiences, skills, and relationships that have shaped his journey. From learning time management and industry standards to planning his entrepreneurial future, his story is one of growth, determination, and endless curiosity. Read edited excerpts:
How has your time at ASU shaped your journey as a graphic designer?

It’s been a really enriching journey here. ASU has taught me so much, especially when it comes to time management and adapting to industry standards. It’s not just about creativity; it’s about discipline and meeting real-world expectations. I’ve grown tremendously as a designer, learning to think outside the box and apply a variety of styles to my work.
What inspired you to pursue graphic design?
I’ve always had a fascination with the creative world. Since childhood, I’ve been curious about design and how it shapes the world around us. My experience at ASU has helped fuel that curiosity. The progress I’ve made in graphic design has been immense—each year has brought new challenges, new techniques, and a deeper understanding of how design can communicate powerful ideas.
Tell us a bit about the campus culture at ASU. How has it contributed to your growth?
The college culture here is vibrant and full of energy. I’ve made so many memories with my friends, especially during our time at the canteen, which has become a hub for laughter, deep discussions, and a break from academic rigour. ASU provides the perfect environment for creativity to thrive—there’s always something to inspire you, whether it’s an event, a project, or just conversations with peers.
How have your teachers influenced your path in design?
The faculty at ASU has been incredible. My teachers are not just educators; they’re mentors who have constantly guided me. They’ve helped me push my boundaries and explore new dimensions of design. Their support has been invaluable—they encourage creativity while ensuring that we maintain professional standards. I owe much of my progress to their unwavering mentorship.

What’s next for you after graduation?
My goal is to start my own graphic design business. I’m originally from Kanpur, and I want to return there to create something that blends my passion for design with the needs of my hometown. I believe there’s a lot of potential in Kanpur, and I’m excited to bring fresh, innovative design ideas to the region. Starting my own business has always been a dream, and I’m eager to turn it into reality.
