Recently, there have been complaints from several students regarding the lack of transparency in college and university admission cut-offs, particularly for central universities (CU). However, addressing these concerns, M Jagadesh Kumar, the University Grants Commission (UGC) Chief, has revealed plans for a new project aimed at introducing common counselling for all central universities.
According to Kumar, the proposed common counselling process, known as CUET (Central Universities Entrance Test) common counselling, will function similarly to the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counselling conducted for admissions to IITs and NITs. This means that students will only need to apply through a single portal and then provide their preferences for different universities. With this streamlined approach, students can avoid the hassle of multiple applications and have a more straightforward and efficient admission process for central universities.
The implementation of the common counselling system is expected to take place in the following year, bringing more clarity and ease to the admission process for aspiring students seeking admission to central universities.
