The National Testing Agency (NTA) Chief M Jagadesh Kumar has confirmed that the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) UG will proceed as scheduled, running from May 15 to May 31. The final dates will be determined taking into account the number of applicants and their geographical distribution.

Speculation arose regarding the postponement of the CUET UG 2024 exam following the announcement of Lok Sabha election dates, which clashed with two of the exam dates. Addressing concerns, Kumar clarified on Sunday that the CUET UG will indeed take place within the scheduled timeframe. However, the overlap with election dates will be considered in the finalisation of the exam schedule.

He mentioned that the complete CUET UG date sheet will be released after the closure of the registration window. This step is essential to gauge the number of applicants and their distribution across regions. Subsequently, the final exam dates will be announced, accommodating both logistical considerations and the election schedule.

In a statement, Kumar reiterated, “NTA will conduct CUET-UG, as announced earlier, between May 15 and May 31, 2024. In this period, two dates overlap with the election dates on May 20 and 25 May.”

He added, “After the last date for filling out applications on March 26, 2024, we will know the number of students registered for CUET-UG and their geographical distribution. Based on this data and the election dates, NTA will announce the date sheet for CUET-UG between May 15 and May 31.”

Registrations for CUET UG 2024 concluded on March 16 at 11:50 pm, with a subsequent correction window available from March 28 to 29 for permitted fields. It is anticipated that over 19 lakh students will register for the exam.

CUET is a national-level entrance exam administered by the NTA for admission to various undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Notably, this year marks the third edition of the exam, with certain modifications in the exam pattern. Applicants are encouraged to refer to the official website and CUET information handout for comprehensive details.
